Introduction to Nurturing Parenting Program Training Workshops
The fidelity of the training that professionals and para-professionals receive in implementing evidence-based programs is recognized by the National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices (NREPP) as essential in ensuring the success of the programs. Family Development Resources, Inc, publishers of the Nurturing Parenting Programs, offers a series of trainings and follow-up consultations to ensure the successful implementation of the Nurturing Parenting Programs. Trainers and consultants of the Nurturing Programs offer standardized training workshops throughout the country. Participants in the workshops receive a Nurturing Program Implementation and Facilitation Workbook that is compatible with the Instructors Training Guide. PowerPoint presentations and activities ensure the fidelity of the trainings.
While fidelity to the training content is essential, flexibility is also a hallmark of the Nurturing Program Trainings. Training days generally range from 2 to 3 days depending upon the training needs of the agency participants, but can extend to 4 and 5 days in specific situations. These situations include:
• Additional hands on training in the program’s content;
• Training in conducting group-based programs; or
• Training in conducting home-visitation sessions.
