Administration of the Adult-Adolescent Parenting Inventory®
(AAPI-2)

Stephen J. Bavolek, Ph.D

AAPI

The Adult-Adolescent Parenting Inventory-2 is a norm referenced parenting inventory designed to assess the parenting and child-rearing beliefs of adolescent and adult parent and non-parent populations. This power point presents the five parenting constructs that constitute the sub-scales of the AAPI-2:

     Construct A: Inappropriate Parental Expectations
Construct B: Parental Lack of Empathy
Construct C: Strong Belief in the use of Physical Punishment
Construct D: Reversing Parent-Child Family Roles
Construct E: Oppressing Children's Power and Independence

Parenting profiles are presented that represent different levels of risk in each of the Constructs. These levels of risk present the participants with the challenge of providing competency based parenting programs designed to remediate parenting deficiencies with strength-based parenting education.
